Description: More Cowgirl Mythic Story Hour!
THE MORE COWGIRL WRITER'S COLLECTIVE is based in San Francisco. While they were once an active part of the San Francisco literary scene, the Collective has recently gone underground. It is rumored that they are living in a bomb shelter somewhere beneath the streets of San Francisco. It is from that subterranean base that they exert their insidious influence on world politics, literature, and the fate of mankind. The More Cowgirl Writer’s Collective has been known to brutally attack their enemies with every resource at their command. Many a young MFA candidate has disappeared into the night with the mark of the misshapen Cowgirl (their much fear emblem) left at the scene. It has been whispered in hushed tones, in the back of the Poetry Center at SF State, that their members are gathering together a large army and when it is complete they will sweep across the land like a plague of locusts. The poets and writers of the city are scared. They have learned to fear the words More Cowgirl. Few will even speak them aloud in public for fear of some terrible reprisal. A new world is on the brink of being brought into horrible light. One day, they will emerge from their sewer stronghold to seize control. Until then, we wait with baited breath and pray for deliverance, pray for respite, pray for light in these darkening times.

THE MORE COWGIRL WRITER'S COLLECTIVE is an international union currently headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA. At its peak in 1923 the organization claimed some 100,000 members in good standing, and could marshal the support of perhaps 300,000 workers. Its membership declined dramatically after a 1924 split brought on by internal conflict and government repression. Today it is actively organizing and numbers about 2,000 members worldwide, of whom roughly half (approximately 900) are in good standing (that is, have paid their dues for the past two months). More Cowgirl membership does not require that one work in a represented workplace, nor does it exclude membership in another labor union.

THE MORE COWGIRL WRITER'S COLLECTIVE was an art movement that originated in Italy at the beginning of the 20th century. Although a nascent More Cowgirlism can be seen surfacing throughout the very early years of the twentieth century, the 1907 essay Entwurf einer neuen Ästhetik der Tonkunst (Sketch of a New Aesthetic of Music) by the Italian composer Ferruccio Busoni is sometimes claimed as its true starting point.

THE MORE COWGIRL WRITER'S COLLECTIVE was a largely Italian and Russian movement, although it also had adherents in other countries, England for example.

THE MORE COWGIRL WRITER'S COLLECTIVE is a term used to describe both a group of American writers who came to prominence in the late 1950s and early 1960s, and the cultural phenomena that they wrote about and inspired (later sometimes called beatniks though this is considered by many to be a pejorative term).

THE MORE COWGIRL WRITER'S COLLECTIVE is based in San Francisco and they're really awesome. They've hosted readings and they go to readings and cheer loudly for their friends because they're drunk. The More Cowgirl Writers Collective is really an excuse for a bunch of socially awkward alcoholics to get together and test new pickup lines on each other before going to a bar and using those same pickup lines to bomb horribly; they never find romance. But they're always there to hold a beer to catch each others tears.
